2025 Homes for HOPE in Houston
Two weeks ago, the Homes for HOPE Board of Directors gathered in Houston, TX for a quick 24 hours brimming with events, meetings, vision, strategy, and a lot of fun.
We started out with a delicious lunch at the Perry Homes headquarters where the Perry Homes team demonstrated generous hospitality toward us, and gave an informative presentation on their company’s history, growth, and values. We then continued with the annual meeting of our Board of Directors where we evaluated where we’ve been, are currently, and set direction for Homes for HOPE moving forward. We never feel like we have enough time together! I love the engagement and commitment level our Board of Directors has for our mission.
We then rushed over to the River Oaks Wine Cellar to host an event for Houston area builders. David Weekley spoke on his love and motivations for supporting the mission of HOPE alongside our founder, Jeff Rutt of Keystone Custom Homes, and several other board members. It was incredibly inspiring to connect with builders and industry professionals who were engaging with HOPE’s mission for the first time and discovering how it actively combats global poverty. The enthusiasm in the room was palpable, and it was a joy to experience.
We then went upstairs for the HOPE International Investing in Dreams dinner where hundreds of ministry supporters and their guests came together to celebrate all God is doing through HOPE around the world. We heard powerful testimonies of how God has changed lives and restored dignity through HOPE’s programs in some of the toughest place on earth. The crowd was effervescent and generous. Hundreds of thousands of dollars were raised in support of our mission that night. Praise the Lord!
The following morning, three board members joined me for a prospecting meeting with a prominent and talented builder in the Houston market. They talked shop, exchanged stories of how their successful companies were built over time, and shared about their charitable journeys as business owners. Our board members took the chance to explain in depth why they have chosen to partner with Homes for HOPE in a meaningful way. We all left encouraged, and I missed my flight because we wanted to keep talking.
I left Houston full of gratitude that I get to be a part of the impactful mission of HOPE International through Homes for HOPE and reminded that online meetings are convenient, but in person meetings are always better.
If you would like to learn more about how HOPE alleviates global poverty through microenterprise development, please grab a meeting time slot with me or one of our reps at homes-for-hope.org/welcome. Maybe we’ll come see you in person!
