Schuber Mitchell Homes Discovering HOPE Experience
TULSA, OK—The Schuber Mitchell Homes Northeast Oklahoma Region staff gathered on October 17th to celebrate their most recent commitment to the work of Homes For HOPE. Vice President of New Business and Development Oscar Antillon led a thought-provoking devotional about God’s provision and then turned the floor over to Homes For HOPE’s Western US representative, Kent Rice.
After a brief presentation about HOPE’s entrepreneurial, job-creating approach to sustainable poverty alleviation, attendees participated in the Discovering HOPE Experience. They were divided into groups and given identities as members of a HOPE International Savings Group in Eastern Africa. Discussion was lively as everyone got the chance to role-play in the simulated savings group meeting, where they engaged in various scenarios that real-life group members encounter around the world. When asked if they wanted to hear how the real savings group responded to these situations, the answer was a resounding, “YES!”
The delightful afternoon concluded with a heartfelt message from Antillon, who expressed how impactful it was to be partners in HOPE’s mission and generous stewards of their resources. “We get the privilege of being able to participate in this work,” he said.
An official launch will take place later this year, during which tradespeople and suppliers will learn more about the ministry of HOPE and will be given the opportunity to offer free or reduced products and labor to support the Tulsa Homes For HOPE project. We are grateful to Schuber Mitchell Homes and their “first fruits” approach to stewardship and development.
