Mungo Homes Ushers in New Era of Partnership

Columbia, SC – Just one day before construction began on a beautiful single family home in the Canary Woods development, executives and team members from Mungo Homes joined local media, elected officials and Homes For HOPE Representative Kent Rice for a groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate Mungo Homes’ second “Michael’s House.” The project—named for Mungo Homes founder Michael Mungo—will raise funds for Homes for HOPE to aid in their battle against global poverty. Mungo Homes purchased McGuinn Homes in July of this year.

“Breaking ground on the second annual Michael’s House alongside our new teammates at McGuinn says everything about our shared values and why these two companies belong together,” said Geoff Shiley, Mungo Homes CEO. “Homes for HOPE helps families in some of the hardest places in the world save, borrow and build a living. We’re honored to put our collective work behind theirs.”

Executive Chairman Steven Mungo shared about the company’s longstanding culture of support poverty alleviation and Nate Gibson, President of Financial Strategy, had this to say: “Our Columbia team and our trade partners stepped up to support this home before the first shovel hit the dirt today. McGuinn has partnered with Homes for HOPE before and has seen firsthand their incredible impact. Giving back has always been part of who we are. Doing it now, as part of the Mungo family on Michael’s House, makes this groundbreaking especially meaningful for our people and partners.”

Thirty-two Mungo trade partners have already stepped up, pledging reduced material and labor costs in order to maximize the collective effort.

“To us, these dollars represent dreams,” said Rice. “Dreams of families being able to flourish, take care of their children and have hope for tomorrow. Dreams of living with dignity and purpose—which is a dream we all share.”

Homes for HOPE is grateful for this amazing support and the impact it will have to families living in underserved communities all over the world.
